~ A LIBERAL ARTS JOURNAL AT STEPHEN F. AUSTIN STATE UNIVERSITY ~

Submission Guidelines
We seek poetry, fiction and creative nonfiction. Acceptances are based upon:
  • needs of the journal at the time of submission
  • intrinsic merit of the work
  • creative appeal for the readers of the journal
We prefer realism, but are willing to look at work that falls outside this category if it is of the highest caliber, although we rarely publish fantasy or science fiction. We read year-round (slower in December & May through August). We do not accept at this time:
  • Academic essays
  • Translations
  • Reprints
  • The work of current Stephen F. Austin State University faculty and students (former students may submit 2 years after graduation).
  • Multiple submissions from the same writer.

Please wait to hear from us before sending another submission. Simultaneous submissions, with notice of such, are accepted. Manuscripts must be presented in a professional format:
  • Typed double-spaced for fiction and creative nonfiction
  • Typed single spaced for poetry, one poem per page
  • Handwritten manuscripts will be immediately returned.
  • An SASE must be included. Submissions without an SASE will not receive notification. Submissions without sufficient postage will not be returned.
Please include a cover letter with all contact information, including an email address, and a brief publication bio for both print and online versions of their work if published. The editors make every effort to reach a decision on publication within six months We would like to pay our authors, but we can only offer two copies at this time. Publication of all works will be in paper first. In a year’s time, the journal will go on-line. After this, all rights revert to the author.
